Lutheran Chapel of Hope, the campus ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod on the corner of Pacific and College Hill on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University, will have its opening worship service with holy communion at 11 a.m. Sunday. A dinner will follow in the chapel basement. All are welcome. Wednesday Bible studies begin at noon with lunch before the Bible study. Regular 5 p.m. worship services begin again Aug. 27 with dinner following. For more information, contact the Rev. David V. Dissen at 334-5736.
Inspirational harpist Greg Buchanan will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 212, S. High St., in Jackson. The concert is free and open to the public. Buchanan grew up in Southern California and began playing the harp at age 9.
Henry T. Mahan, a pastor and evangelist of 50 years from Ashland, Ky., will be at Sovereign Grace Church in Jackson at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 and Aug. 26, as well as 10 a.m. Aug. 27. The church is at 120 N. Oklahoma St. Call 243-0216 for information.
Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church recently gathered 100 boxes of items including toys and toiletries to send to Nicaraguan children. Packages will be sent by Christmas through the Rainbow Network. The Sunday school and Bible school programs at Hobbs Chapel gathered items and packaged them for the project.

The 29th annual homecoming of Trinity Methodist Church and cemetery association will take place on the church grounds 3 miles west of Delta. A basket lunch will begin at noon, followed by a short program with song and fellowship.
