Redhawks volleyball raises $12,600 for breast cancer

Volleyball players at Southeast Missouri State University raised $12,646 during the 2009 Dig For Life Campaign where they raise money during games. The team partners with Saint Francis Medical Center each year to raise money by securing pledges per dig -- a common volleyball move. The digs during home games in October are tallied and the money is used to provide free mamograms. Coach Renata Heard and Redhawks volleyball athletes presented a check to Steven C. Bjelich, President and Chief Executive Officer at Saint Francis, during the pre-game activities at the final home game for Southeast's men's basketball team. Representatives from Poplar Bluff Medical Partners were also recognized for their efforts, in collaboration with the girls volleyball team at Poplar Bluff High School. With the help of the Farmington High School volleyball team, they were able to raise nearly $4,000 for Dig for Life in 2009.
