Pet radio station makes waves

A new on-line radio station has caught the ear of the pet community.

Since DogCatRadio.com was launched in June of 2005, more than 193,000 people (and their pets) have tuned in.

"If you're like most Americans, your pet is part of the family. So we decided to broadcast exclusively online so as to accommodate the entire US geographical markets.," says president and founder, Adrian Martinez. "We expected just a few people to tune in, but the number of listeners has been overwhelming."

The station's music, which targets pets and their owners, can be heard in certain cities, including St. Louis, via radio or by logging on to www.dogcatradio.com and clicking the "tune in now" link.

Humane Society seeks foster parents for Katrina pets

More than 200 pets are being flown from animal shelters affected by Hurricane Katrina to St. Louis and will be available for foster care.

According to the Humane Society of Missouri, the animals are considered "abandoned pets" and must be kept in foster care for a minimum of 30 days in order for their owners to find them.

At the end of five weeks, if unclaimed, these animals will become Humane Society of Missouri pets and could be available for adoption.

The humane society is seeking temporary homes for these animals. Foster care is open to Missouri and Illinois residents. Food and medical treatment will be provided.

For more information, contact the Humane Society of Missouri at (314) 951-1579
