Dr. Ken White, a veterinarian at Perry County Veterinary Hospital in Perryville, Mo., just finished a volunteering stint at the Joplin Animal Shelter. During his time at the shelter, White assisted in the care of more than 800 dogs and cats displaced by the tornadoes that destroyed the city May 22. White performed examinations on cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. He gave medications to sick pets and treated injuries. White is a member of the Missouri Volunteer Veterinary Corp and is trained to assist in animal emergency situations in the state of Missouri.
