Trish Erzfeld has worked at the Perry County Historical Society for nearly 20 years. She was appointed to a new position, consultant for tourism, in May.
"My job is to bring more tourism to the county, so I'm trying to gather and rally the team, rally the troops as you might say, and get us all going in the same direction," she says.
She says her main goal is to help people in Perryville promote themselves so the county can work toward having more of a presence in the Missouri Department of Tourism.
Trish also has written a book about her hometown of Menfro, Missouri, called "Menfro: People's Dream, Mother Nature's Plan," and its proceeds help support the historical society.
She says the best part of her job is promoting all things special about Perry County and telling its stories to the world, just as she did for Menfro.
Trish says her work as the consultant for tourism has only just begun, and that she's looking forward to helping tourism in Perry County grow.
"We're just getting started," she says. "We have a lot of ideas. We have a huge support from our county and our city and our economic development and just the people here in Perry County, so we're going to be working very hard in the future to get Perry County known nationally -- that is our goal."
