"We treat all our customers like family," said Danny Tumbleson, owner of Minor's Harley-Davidson. "Our place is a great place to just hang out and have fun. We don't just sell Harley-Davidsons. We sell the experience."

Hearing comments like that from Tumbleson makes you want to visit Minor's Harley-Davidson, at 2100 East Outer Road, Scott City, just to see the people and experience the warm atmosphere. You wonder what it would be like to hang-out there, too. But Minor's offers far more than warmth, friendliness and a place to hang out. They are professionals in the motorcycle business.

Minor's Harley-Davidson does not merely sell motorcycles; they service them as well. Minor's Harley-Davidson is now owned by Danny and Michele Tumbleson. The business started in 1971 in downtown Cape Girardeau. Then a better location was sought. The establishment moved from downtown Cape Girardeau to 905 Enterprise St. in Cape Girardeau. After residing at that spot for a number of years, it moved again, this time to 2100 E. Outer Road in Scott City. They needed more space so Harley-Davidson now occupies a spacious building measuring 22,000 square feet.

Danny and Michele have not always owned the business. They have owned it since only May 2006, and they have all kinds of plans for the future. One of their first changes will be to remodel the showroom this year. An attractive and accommodating display area is always a plus when people are looking for merchandise and products. If you can see what you are getting, you are more likely to patronize an establishment. People can see and touch what they are getting.

The Tumblesons believe they need to make some changes to the outside, as well as the inside, though; so they are going to tackle the outside in 2008. Nothing is too good for the customers.

If you are looking for credibility in a business; you won't have to look far. Danny and Michele Tumbleson are proud because Minor's Harley-Davidson was recognized as the Small Business of the Year in 2004. An award of that stature is difficult to achieve. Some of the criterion that is necessary for a business to receive the award are that the nominated company must experience physical growth and be financially sound, showing a profit. Customers must be satisfied with service and products. In other words, a good reputation is required. If an establishment is selected it must show evidence of having a unique product and/or service. The recipient of the award is also recognized for serving the public more efficiently than most, to name a few accomplishments the honor recognizes.
