Casey Benefield and the band Every Other Chair will hold a benefit performance for the MedAssets Relay for Life Team from 8 to 10 p.m. April 11 at the American Legion hall in Cape Girardeau. "We just wanted to support and raise money for the MedAssets team and for all other people that have had cancer," said Benefield in an e-mail. Volunteering time and musical talents is familiar to Benefield and band members, Holt Walker, Kyle Keith and Trent Dickerson. The band played a benefit gig to encourage can collection at Jackson High School for the Jackson Ministerial Alliance. Other musical benefits have been for children with serious illnesses, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and senior citizens. Band members have also worked at a soup kitchen, bagged and carried out groceries and served Christmas dinner.
