Stacy Dohogne Lane is a self-professed "townie" -- she's lived in Cape Girardeau all her life, and now she promotes her hometown by working as director of public relations at the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau. Her Schnauzer/Beagles, Oscar and Ninja, are two of her favorite things in life, along with her husband of nearly five years, Ryan.
Stacy's also a fan of knitting, crocheting and sewing; running; supporting Hoops for Life and the Humane Society; and reading. She's even on the board of the Friends of the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation.
Here's what else you need to know about Stacy Dohogne Lane:
__What is the last good book you read?__
"City of Endless Night" by Milo Hastings, "Yes Please" by Amy Poehler and "Revival" by Stephen King. I just started "Dataclysm" by Christian Rudder, which (so far) seems to be a mashup of data, analytics and sociology. My "to-read" list is always growing.
__What did you want to be when you grew up?__
An actress or a ballerina, and I haven't grown out of the ballerina dream yet.
__Where would you go in a time machine?__
I'd like to have known my grandmas as young women, so I'd say the early- to mid-1940s. I'll not go back further than indoor plumbing, though Laura Ingalls Wilder's pioneering West and Jane Austen's England are tempting.
__Tell us one thing you're really good at and one thing you're really bad at:__
I'm really good at being all in with whatever I'm doing, and I'm really bad at jumping to conclusions and not giving people the benefit of the doubt, which is something I'm working on.
__What is your most treasured possession?__
Do my dogs count? If so, Oscar and Ninja all the way, and if not, I would say two quilts I have, one made by each of my grandmas.
__What's your favorite way to spend a Saturday?__
A run with my mom and sister and the dogs, followed by coffee at Dynamite Coffee, then a turn through the Cape Riverfront Market. A nap on my porch swing in the afternoon and ice cream at the riverfront in the evening with my husband.
__What is your guilty pleasure?__
Ice cream from Cape's Cream of the Crust. If I really want to get crazy, I get a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of strawberry in a waffle cone, but if Charlie has peach handy, all bets are off.
__Describe your perfect vacation:__
We just went to Boulder, Colorado, for Thanksgiving with my whole family, and we stayed in this amazing house in the mountains. We cooked, ate, relaxed, hiked at Chautauqua and Rocky Mountain National Park, rode bikes around downtown Boulder -- it was perfect! I haven't been to very many places that are as hard to leave as the Rocky Mountains, and the weather is so beautiful out there.
__What are your pet peeves?__
Lack of courtesy to folks around you.
__What style or beauty tip do you swear by?__
Moving around -- nothing makes me feel better than a run, a bike ride or a walk with my dogs, and I think that feeling carries over throughout the entire day.
__What song will always get you out on the dance floor?__
Anything by Ke$ha!
__Who do you most admire in life and why?__
People who can keep their cool in high-pressure situations.
__What's on your bucket list?__
I'd like to learn a new skill that's totally out of my comfort zone (maybe coding?), and leave the world just a little bit better than how I found it.
