Local students earn scholarships

Several local students earned scholarships to assist with the cost of attendance at Southeast Missouri State University in the fall.

Adesyn Shelton of Cape Girardeau was awarded the University Scholarship. Shelton, a 2016 graduate of Bernie High School, is the daughter of Jason Shelton of Bernie, Missouri, and Terrie Hughes of Cape Girardeau.

Caleb Friedrich of Jackson was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. Friedrich, a 2016 graduate of Eagle Ridge Christian School, is the son of Allen and Cindy Friedrich of Jackson.

Austin Doyal of Burfordville was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. Doyal, a 2016 graduate of Jackson High School, is the son of Larry and Kerri Wagner of Jackson.

Madison Hunt of Oak Ridge was awarded the Residence Life Leadership Award. Hunt is a 2016 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and is the daughter of James and Kay Hunt of Jackson and Tammy Hunt of Oak Ridge.
