Letter: Boy Scout praises baseball

Hi, my name is Garrett Auer. I am a seventh-grader at Scott City Junior High. I am working at receiving the Eagle Scout award for Troop 5 out of Cape Girardeau. I am currently working on star. In order to do this, part of my requirements is to summit a letter to a local newspaper for the communications merit badge.

I am here to talk about baseball. Baseball is a really fun sport that you can do for many months. I have played many years at Scott City, and last year I was voted all star player through Scott City. Baseball takes a lot of time and practice and it is very rewarding when you can accomplish your goals. When playing baseball my positions are pitcher and second base.

In the MLB the St. Louis Cardinals is my favorite team and my favorite player is Matt Holliday. They recently made it to the World Series against the Boston Red Sox. We attend numerous Cardinals games through the year. I am hoping that they have a great year again this year.

I plan on playing again this year and in the future.
