Cape Central senior completes honors academy

Cape Central senior Hayden Smee was selected as a 2018 Scholar in the Commonwealth Honors Academy at Murray State University this summer, according to a news release. The selection process was rigorous, and successful candidates were not only outstanding in academics, but were also leaders in their schools and communities.

Smee distinguished himself with a cumulative grade point average of 4.21 on a 4.0 scale, extensive leadership experience as an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, and through his work in Student Senate and FBLA while at Cape Central.

Upon successful completion of the Academy, students receive six hours of university credit for classes completed during the Academy, are given the opportunity to take six additional hours of tuition-free courses at Murray State during the subsequent year and are awarded a $2,000-per-year housing scholarship at MSU, renewable for up to four years, according to the release.
