P.E.O. Chapter BI of Cape Girardeau presented Josey Patton, a Jackson High School graduate, with a scholarship to attend the University of Kansas. P.E.O. is an organization founded in 1869 for the furthering of women's education. Chapter BI was founded in Cape Girardeau in 1911 and is the oldest chapter in Southeast Missouri.
Several local students earned scholarships to assist with the cost of attendance at Southeast Missouri State University in the fall.
Jeremy Trock of Cape Girardeau was awarded the President's Scholarship. He is a 2016 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and is the son of Jodi and Bob Templeton of Cape Girardeau.
Hannah Sweeney of Burfordville received the Community College Scholarship. Sweeney, a 2016 graduate of Mineral Area College and a 2014 graduate of Woodland High School, is the daughter of John and Christie Sweeney of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Charles and Helen Sweeney of Burfordville.
McKayla Dumey of Oran, Missouri, was awarded the Dual Credit Scholarship. Dumey, a 2016 graduate of Scott County Central High School, is the daughter of Joe and Tabitha Dumey of Oran.
Emily Davis of Chaffee, Missouri, was awarded the Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship. Davis, a 2016 graduate of Zalma High School, is the daughter of Dean and Linda Davis of Chaffee.
