Students receive awards and scholarships
Rachel Lincoln of Whitewater and Russell Hendricks of Advance, Mo., have received Missouri Leadership awards and Missouri Assessment Program scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2007-2008 academic year. Lincoln, a senior at Delta High School, is the daughter of Richard and Brenda Lincoln. Hendricks, a senior at Advance High School, is the son of Randall and Patricia Hendricks.
Area students awarded President's scholarships
Justin Helderman of Cape Girardeau, Brittany Koch of Chaffee, Mo., and Luke Clippard of Jackson have been awarded President's scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University. Helderman and Clippard also received Missouri Leadership awards. Koch and Clippard also received Missouri Assessment Program scholarships. Helderman, a senior at Delta High School, is the son of Jeff and Tina Helderman. Koch, a senior at Chaffee High School, is the daughter of Robert and Jamie Koch. Clippard, a senior at Jackson High School, is the son of Tim and Carla Clippard.
Central students win academic competition
Cape Girardeau Central High School's Academic Competition Team won the district championship on Saturday. Cape Central students Lauren Clark, Matt Hileman and Jared Roop were named all-district medalists. The team now advances to the Academic State Competition on May 5 Dr. Al Nicolai is the head coach for the team. Assistants are Emily Limbaugh and Donna McDowell.
Students place at state math competition
Immaculate Conception School seventh-grader Erin Bollman took sixth place in seventh-grade math and eighth-grader Chris Dunning took seventh place in the algebra category at the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Math Competition.
School News
The Jackson School District will hold kindergarten orientation at Gordonville, Millersville, North Elementary, Orchard Drive and South Elementary schools on May 1 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Students who will be entering kindergarten this fall and their parents can meet the kindergarten teachers, learn about the kindergarten program, tour the building and ask questions. Information will be handed out on school policies and procedures. Parents also can turn in any additional health form or immunization records.
