Timothy Guillams of Perryville, Mo., and Joseph Moore of Sikeston, Mo., were among 11 high school students in Southeast Missouri nominated to the nation's military academies. Moore is a principal nominee to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Guillams is an alternate to the U.S. Military Academy.
* Kyle Gray of Benton, Mo., was named to the fall semester dean's list at the College of the Ozarks.
* William Stewart of Cape Girardeau was named to the fall semester dean's list at Southeast Missouri State University.
* Erika Foley, Paige Foley and Chase Tobin, all of Cape Girardeau, were named to the fall semester dean's list at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Angela McLean and Terri Budde, both of Jackson, were awarded grants from the local chapter of the PEO Sisterhood to pursue health-care training. McLean is seeking certification to become a surgical technician. Budde is training to become a registered nurse.
* The Oran School District will conduct kindergarten enrollment from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 7 and 8. Parents must contact the elementary school office at (573) 262-3435 to schedule an appointment before enrollment. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be 5 years old as of Aug. 1. Parents should bring children's immunization/shot records, birth certificates and Social Security cards.
