Woman named to dean's list

Mckenzie Roth of Benton, Missouri, was named to the fall 2015 high honor's dean's list at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Roth is a graduate of Scott County R-IV School and the daughter of Becky Roth of Benton. Roth is a freshman theater arts major at the university.

Student awarded FCE scholarship

Josh Walther of Jackson was awarded the annual $300 Cape Girardeau County FCE Scholarship by the FCE Scholarship Committee. Walther is a junior at Southeast Missouri State University majoring in animal science and agribusness. He is the son of Ronald and Pam Walther of Jackson.

Local students win art awards

Several local students were awarded top honors at the 81st annual Women's Club Art Show in Paducah, Kentucky. Sarah Baird of Jackson placed first in the third to fifth grade division, Jaeda Baldwin of Cape Girardeau placed second in the third to fifth grade division and Kateryna Elefson of Jackson placed second in the kindergarten to second grade division. All three girls are taught privately by Brenda Seyer of Cape Girardeau.
