Kelly High School members of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America group recently attended the 2009 Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership Conference in Columbia, Mo. The theme, "Level Up Your Leadership," included speakers and workshops on careers, recycling, traffic and personal safety, personal development and technology plus leadership training, honors and recognition. More than 700 students participated in competitive events, called STAR events. Six Kelly High School FCCLA members who received recognition in STAR events were Shellie Cohen, silver rating in chapter service project, display senior category; Denae Glaus, silver rating in chapter showcase manual senior category; Megan Sanders and Samantha Staggs, silver rating in the illustrated talk junior category; Audrey Camren, bronze rating in the FCCLA knowledge senior category; Kara Weiss, bronze rating in chapter showcase display junior category. Laura Felter served as an evaluator in the career investigation senior category.
