The Jackson High School Class of 1953 celebrated its 60th reunion Sept. 27 and 28 at the Jackson Senior Center.
On Friday night, they enjoyed at meal followed by attending the Jackson High School football game. They traveled to the game in a school bus courtesy of St. Paul Lutheran School. When they arrived, they were met with guides who led them to special reserved seats. Thanks to Wade Bartles and Meredith Pobst for making all the arrangements as well as providing red and black ribbons.
On Saturday morning, the class met for breakfast at the senior center then toured the high school guided by Pobst.
The banquet was Saturday evening at the senior center. Class members were given name tags with their senior class picture on them. Maxine Loberg Fellows provided piano music.
Ten members traveled from out of state for a total of 16,364 miles round trip.
Jim Nelson, the class's only surviving teacher, was presented a House Resolution from State Rep. Donna Lichtenegger.
Organizers were: Co-chairman Lester Maevers and Shirley (Sample) Young, secretary; Wayne McClard, treasurer and class members, (Shirley (Petzoldt) Birk, Harriet (Reisenbichler) Drusch, Joann (Jones) Hahn, Ellie (Philiipps) Knight, Ed Lewis, Judy (Thompson) Litzenfelner, Ruth Maevers, Marilyn (Lange) Nussbaum and Margie (Statler) Reisenbichler.
A memorial service was held for the 33 class members who have passed away, led by McClard and Nussbaum.
This class has met about every five years since graduation, which attests to the closeness of the class.
