The Dr. Dieter and Nancy Jedan Endowed Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Dr. Dieter Jedan of Cape Girardeau made a $10,000 gift to establish the award. The gift will be matched with an additional $10,000 through a gift-matching program, part of the Honoring Tradition -- Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign.
The scholarship is designed to assist international students from the department's bilateral exchange partner universities to study at Southeast. The scholarship also is intended to encourage Southeast students to study abroad.
The scholarship will be awarded to nondegree-seeking international exchange students enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University from eight universities in France, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Germany, Mexico and Spain with which the Department of Global Cultures and Languages has exchange agreements.
Dr. Dieter Jedan served as chair of the Department of Global Cultures and Languages for 20 years, and his wife, Nancy, taught for several years in the Department of Management and Marketing at Southeast.
