Hooked on science: Unbreakable eggs

Have you ever wondered why a hen can sit on her eggs and never break them? If so, here's an experiment that will show you why.

Ingredient

1 uncooked egg

Instructions

STEP 1: Remove all rings from your fingers. Place one uncooked egg in the palm of your hand.

STEP 2: Grasp the egg with your fingers and squeeze the egg, applying pressure evenly around the egg.

Explanation

The arch shape of the egg keeps it from breaking. This shape allows the pressure from your hand to be distributed evenly around the egg.
