University hospital expands burn unit
The university hospital in Columbia, Mo., has expanded the George David Peak Memorial Care Center burn intensive care unit to be the largest facility in Missouri. The new burn center includes 14 private intensive care rooms that have individual temperature controls, which can help with patients who may have lost the ability to regulate their own body temperatures because of severe burns. The new George David Peak Memorial Burn and Wound Center also features a new operating room equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a specialized treatment and rehabilitation therapy room. The hospital opened the first burn intensive care unit in mid-Missouri.
