Great Books for Grandkids

Southeast Missouri Hospital's Center for Women's and Children's Services will offer a free program "For Grandparents: Great Books for Grandkids," from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital's Harrison Room.

Sharon Anderson, youth services coordinator at the public library, will discuss good books to read to children, and address appropriate books for certain age ranges, popular picks and classic favorites.

Causes, treatments of headaches

Neurologist Anthony P. Knox, a member of the medical staff at Southeast Missouri Hospital, will present a free program about the causes and treatments of headaches from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Harrison Room..

Nursing League programs

Two programs are available May 2 to health care professionals, sponsored by the Missouri League for Nursing.

"Legal Issues: Avoiding Malpractice Situations," will be given at Saint Francis Medical Center in the Assisi/St. Clare rooms. Mariam Wright Decker, an attorney and nurse, will present a basic understanding of the legal system, including how a lawsuit progresses, common medical malpractice situations and other issues associated with lawsuits against health professionals.

At Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo., Kelvin Brown, an author and wheelchair athlete, will present "Motivate or be Motivated." The purpose of this workshop is to learn multiple techniques to improve outlooks and outputs in situations where people need to motivate or be motivated.
