Lipid screenings scheduled for Jackson and Cape

Two lipid profile screenings will be held in Jackson this month -- from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Jackson Senior Center and at 8 to 10:30 a.m. March 27 at the Jackson First Baptist Church.

Screenings will also be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. March 28 at the Cape Area Family Resource Center.

Through a grant from the Senior Citizens Service Fund Board, Cape County residents age 60 and older can receive a free cholesterol panel screen. A 10 hour fast is required; screenings are by appointment only by calling 651-5825.

Yoga for new moms

Southeast Missouri Hospital is offering a six-week prenatal/postnatal yoga class at HealthPoint Fitness Center beginning at 7:15 p.m. Monday.

Classes include poses that are suitable for use during and immediately after pregnancy. To register, call 986-4400.

Smart women finish rich

Cheryl A. Mothes, an investment representative with Edward Jones, will suggest seven steps to help women achieve financial security as part of a luncheon program sponsored by Southeast Missouri Hospital from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Southeast Missouri Hospital's Harrison Room. Nursing League to offer workshop

The Missouri League For Nursing will offer a workshop March 29 at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center about quality dementia care.

Workshop presenters will be members of the Alzheimer's Association. They will explore recommended quality care practices endorsed by the Alzheimer's Association for staff and facilities associated with quality of life for persons with dementia in assisted living centers and nursing homes.
