Hospital's program helps children who stay alone

A program to help children and parents learn what skills are needed and safety points to be considered when children are home alone will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 31 at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

The program will be held in the Harrison Room and is sponsored by the hospital's Center for Women's and Children's Services. Parents and children are encouraged to attend together.

The program is free but registration is required. For information, call the Generations Center at 651-5825.

Enrollment opening for 'Scramble Camp'

A variety of summer games and activities for children ages 7 to 13 will be part of Scramble Camp, one of a series of summer fitness day camps hosted by Southeast Missouri Hospital's Fitness and Wellness Center.a

The camp will be held July 29 and 30 at Main Street Fitness in Jackson and includes frisbee golf, crafts, wall climbing, karaoke and swimming.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and activities conclude between 4:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. The cost is $20 a day or $30 if the child attends both days.

For families with two children at camp, the fee is $50 for both children.

Children should bring a sack lunch July 29 but lunch is provided July 30. A swimsuit is needed July 30.
