Poker run, seminar scheduled on MS

Take a deep breath and bike through scenic Southern Illinois with the Gateway Area Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis for the first annual Poker Run on Saturday. Money raised during the event goes toward client programs and research projects for people with MS. First bike out from TNT Choppers in East Cape Girardeau at 11 a.m.; last bike out at 1 p.m. For information, call 334-1777 or (618) 661-9999. That same day the Gateway Area Chapter is offering a free wellness seminar to assist those affected by MS to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Diabetes resource fair set for June 19-20

Cross Trails Medical Center will hold two diabetes resource fairs. The first will be from 10 a.m. to noon June 19 at the Cross Trails office, 408 S. Broadview St. in Cape Girardeau, followed by another from 10 a.m. to noon the following day at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church fellowship hall. At each event there will be the latest in glucometers, new medications, insulin delivery devices, and diabetic shoes. Experts will be on hand to answer questions. Community forum on oral health planned

The Missouri Coalition for Oral Health, in partnership with Mid-Missouri Area Health Education Centers, the Missouri Head Start State Collaboration Office and Missouri Rural Health Association, will hold a community forum from 4 to 6 p.m. June 16 at Saint Francis Medical Center to focus on oral health. The purpose of the meeting will be to educate the community about the current system of providing oral health and encourage participation in revamping the oral health delivery system.
