Grandma Alice's Best Ever Sugar Cookies

Kim Bramlett submitted this sugar cookie recipe, which was passed down to her from her grandmother and aunt.

2 cups butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 cup powder sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugars. Add vanilla and eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and add mix with above ingredients.

1 tsp. baking soda

4 cups flour

1 tsp. cream of tarter

1/4 tsp. salt

Refrigerate for approximately one hour. Roll 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Aunt Betty's Royal Icing

Large bag of powdered sugar

1 tsp. white vanilla

1 tsp. almond flavoring

4 squirts of white karo syrup

Enough milk to make gravy like consistency

One could add food coloring. This icing dries hard for stacking.
