Aaron Koehler, 12, was recently recognized by the Modern Woodmen of America with the Modern Woodman of America's Outstanding Junior Volunteer 2008 award for his volunteer services in the community, outstanding leadership skills and good citizenship. The award is presented annually to one member of each Modern Woodmen of America youth service club nationwide.

Koehler, son of Chris and Stephanie Koehler of Jackson, is a student at Cape Christian School.

Besides spending numerous hours clearing storm debris for the elderly, his volunteer hours included planting trees and landscaping at the Jackson Senior Center, planting trees and assembling a bench at the Humane Society, building birdhouses to raise funds for the "Love for Lexi Edwards" campaign, a local youth recovering from cancer.
