Five young women turned 16 over the summer and held a joint birthday party to celebrate. Instead of cars or new clothes, they asked party guests to bring a donation, which the girls would give to the Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship in memory of Sahara Aldrige, who died of cancer Nov. 5, 2007 and would have turned 15 July 24. The girls were all friends of Sahara and told their parents they wanted to make sure Sahara was not forgotten. At the party the girls decorated a table with a saddle and pictures of Sahara where donations could be dropped off and invited Sahara's parents Shannon and Amy Aldrige. They collected around $600 for the Horsemanship.
