On Oct. 10 the Heartland Down Syndrome Association will host Southeast Missouri's first-ever Buddy Walk, sponsored by Boy Scout Matt Jedlinski, Troop 16, who is organizing and coordinating the event as his Eagle project. Many Eagle projects focus on actual building with wood and cement, but Jedlinski's plans are to build what he hopes to become an annual event for the newly formed Heartland DS Association. The walk is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cape County Park North, Pavilion No. 8, in Cape Girardeau and will be about one mile. Robyn Hosp will be there to kick off the event by singing "God Bless America," and several fun activities for children will follow the walk. Boy Scout Troop 16 and the local military honor guard will also participate. All are invited to walk and join in the fun. Pre-registration is appreciated. For more information, contact Matt Jedlinski at heartlandbuddywalk@yahoo.com.
