Cathy Hobbs, 54, volunteers at Auburn Creek Residential Care in Cape Girardeau, where she ministers to patients who attend her services. Her services consist of prayer request, Bible study and prayer time usually lasting an hour or more. She visits the nursing home every week on Wednesday. Hobbs said that the joy of making the patient's day is enough to make her smile. She and her husband, Darrell Hobbs, have been singing at different nursing homes and church facilities for over 11 years and produced a promotional CD for others to sample their southern gospel songs. Cathy is a licensed minister through a foundation called "Full Gospel Church International."
"I do it because of my love for Jesus," Cathy said. Hobbs has been many places and plans to continue ministering. "This has been such a wonderful experience."
