After recent success by Oak Ridge High School's cross country team, the members of the community decided to reward the students for their hard work. The team had not received new uniforms in years, so supporters of the team and the community worked together to raise funds for new ones. Supporters hosted a kettle beef dinner that was attended by more than 270 people. The dinner was cooked by West End Catering and many people worked to make the dinner a huge success. The dinner raised $2,700. After the uniform purchase, $1,400 was left, and the group decided to donate that money to the school to be used for academic purposes.
