Generosity: Plunge raises $47,146 for Special Olympics

The fourth annual Polar Plunge raised $47,146 for Special Olympics Missouri. The Feb. 1 event drew 233 people to take a chilly dip into Lake Boutin. Online fundraising is ongoing, with the goal of raising a total of $60,000. Information is available and donations may be made at somo.org/plunge.

Fundraiser, Jon Atkinson, $1,242; group, Baer & Edington, $3,530; LETR team, Sikeston Police Department, $1,300; school, Delta High School, $2,654; and college, Southeast Missouri State University Gamma Phi Beta, $1,056.
