PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Students from the building trades class at Perryville Area Career and Technology Center took a special field trip April 21 to a place that brings hope to combat-wounded military men and women. The students went to Camp Hope in Farmington, Mo., where they donated six outdoor tables, 36 benches and a dining table for the main lodge, which was dedicated during a special April 14 ceremony. All five Cape County FCE clubs delivered items to TouchPoint Autism Services on Southeast Missouri State University campus in Cape Girardeau on April 10. The club worked April 9 making 16 blankets and nine lap pads at the Jackson Extension Center. Fourth-grader helps schoolmate with leukemia

When Jasmine French, a fourth-grader at Perryville Elementary School, learned that a schoolmate is battling leukemia, she wanted to help in some way. She created bows, purses, wallets and bouquets from printed duct tape and sold them to raise money for Haley Fulmer, a third grade student at Perryville. Haley wad diagnosed in November with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and receives chemotherapy treatments. Jasmine's efforts have raised $160 for Haley's medical and travel fund. Jasmine is the daughter of Jake and Melia French of Perryville, Mo., and Haley is the daughter of Paul and Jennifer Fulmer.
