Meals With Friends menu set

The Salvation Army announced its menu for Meals With Friends, which takes place at noon daily at the Salvation Army.

  • Monday, Memorial Day: Sack lunch.
  • Tuesday: Sloppy Joes, mashed potatoes, baked beans, fruit and rice pudding
  • Wednesday: Blackeyed peas, ham, cornbread and fruit
  • Thursday: Spaghetti, green beans, rolls and fruit
  • Friday: Leftovers

Community picnic at Hobbs Chapel

A community picnic will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hobbs Chapel, 3024 State Highway 177 in Cape Girardeau. Free barbecue and hotdogs will be served and there will be children's games. More information is available by calling 573-450-8524.

Jaycees to host rock, paper, scissors tourney

The Oran Jaycees will host a tournament with the game rock, paper, scissors to raise money for Access Day at the Missouri State Fair, which gives people with physical and mental disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the fair. The single-elimination tournament will be at 6 p.m. June 6 at the Oran Jaycee Hall, 200 N. Haw St.; there is a $2 entry fee. All ages are welcome. Disc golf tournament set June 27

The second annual Dominic Hooper Memorial Scholarship Disc Golf Tournament will be June 27 at Scott City Park. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Horseshoe Pavilion; cost is $30 per person and participants must bring their your own discs. Registration forms are available at The Bank of Missouri in Scott City and at the Scott City City Hall or from Chris by calling 573-979-1996 or Sara by calling 573-450-0906.

Yard sale to benefit food pantry

Cathedral of St. Mary of the Annunciation will host a yard sale 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday to benefit the Catholic Social Mininstry food pantry. Donated items may be delivered to the St. Mary Cathedral School gymnasium, 615 William St., from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Saturday will feature $1 bags.
