5K run to benefit GRACES Council

Missouri Running Company will host a "Catch Me If You Can" 5K skirt run on Saturday at the Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau to benefit GRACES Women's Council, an affinity group of United Way of Southeast Missouri. The run is sponsored by MediCenter, Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, Regional Brain and Spine LLC, Vision3Media and Cheryl Mothes of Edward Jones. The run through downtown Cape Girardeau will begin at 3 p.m. Participants are invited to wear a skirt to have a three-minute headstart on the race and awards will be presented. At 6 p.m., a celebration will be hosted at Cup N' Cork, 11 S. Spanish St. Registration is $30 and includes a race T-shirt, or a ticket package may be purchased for $45 that includes a $30 gift certificate to purchase a skirt from Missouri Running Company along with a race T-shirt. United Way annual meeting May 28

United Way of Southeast Missouri will hold its annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. May 28 at 11:30am at Isle Casino Cape Girardeau. Three awards will be presented: Spirit of Giving, Spirit of Community and Spirit of Caring. In addition, the top 20 businesses and the campaign chair will be recognized for their contribution to the 2014 campaign. Registration, which includes lunch, is $15 per person; four tickets may be purchased at a discounted rate of $50, and tables of eight are available for $100. Golf tourney to benefit United Way

United Way of Southeast Missouri will host its' 28th Annual Golf Tournament June 5 at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson. Registration and lunch are scheduled for 11 a.m. with tee off at noon. The tournament will be a four-person scramble with 36 teams divided into two flights; prizes will be awarded and a raffle will be held. Registration is $100 per player by May 22 and $125 after this date; sponsorships are available. Skelton family reunion scheduled

The Skelton family reunion will be June 20 at the Community Building, 115 Smith Ave., Hohenwald, Tennessee. It will start at 11 a.m., with lunch at 12:30. Plates, cups and flatware will be furnished; individuals are asked to bring a dish to share, family photos and musical instruments.
