Saint Francis Medical Center will offer free lung-cancer screenings on Thursday for people ages 50 through 74 who are heavy smokers, former smokers or otherwise at risk. Low-radiation CT scan technology will be used, and those screened will be notified of results within one week. No preparation is required; patients must be preregistered. Saint Francis Medical Center offers heart and health screenings the third Wednesday of each month and will take place from 7 to 10 a.m. June 17. The heart screening, lipid profile plus glucose is $29 and includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, cardio risk ratio plus glucose for diabetes. The health screening includes free blood-pressure screening; glucose screening, $6; and women's osteoporosis screening; $25. The tests take place in the Health and Wellness Center, Entrance 8.
