Scott County Women in Agriculture meet

The Scott County Women in Agriculture will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the USDA Center on 6458 State Highway 77 in Benton, Mo. Deborah Gunter, with the Scott County Historical Society, will give a presentation on "The Beginning Search for Ancestors." All women are invited to attend and bring laptop and any family history information and pictures that they may have that they would like to work on. SADI hosting its annual autism walk

The SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence will host its annual Giving Autistic Parents Support walk from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 755 S. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. All funds raised will be used to support families with autistic members with various needs. This year's theme is "express yourself," and the walk will have food, chalk artists, music, storytelling and more. Kenny Rogers center holding charity walk

The 39th annual Kenny Rogers Children Center charity walk is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the recreation center of First Assembly of God, 1219 N. Ingram Road in Sikeston, Mo. The event helps support therapy services for special-needs children in the area. Participants will receive a free T-shirt, and $50 cash will be awarded to the top fundraisers in each county. Firetruck rally to be Saturday

Suicide prevention walk to be Oct. 7

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk for suicide prevention is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 7 at Cape County Park North. There will be a balloon release, 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Magnolia Manor luncheon set for Oct. 7

The October Luncheon at Magnolia Manner is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 7 at 2700 Washington Ave. Cairo, Ill. A $10 donation is requested. All proceeds will go toward the upkeep of the manor. Reservations may be made by calling 618-734-0201.

The Community Counseling Center hosts Hands Across Missouri from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at Arena Park shelters 1 and 2. Elks to host Old Bag Luncheon

The Old Bag Luncheon benefiting the American Heart Association is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 20 at the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau. Tickets are available at any Capaha Bank location for $20 with the donation of a new or slightly used purse, clutch, tote, gym bag or other bag. Men will model the donated items during a live auction. Attendees wearing red will receive a free gift from the American Heart Association. Breaths for Bryan auction

A silent auction and live music will be held to benefit Bryan Walker at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at Buckner Brewing Co., 132 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. Walker is in need of a double lung transplant. The event will feature silent auction, bake sale, raffles, food and special musical guest Steven Conn.
