The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is hosting a tour of the Rare Book Room of Kent Library at Southeast Missouri State University from noon to 1 p.m. July 10. Scott City First Assembly of God will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. July 17 at the church, 312 Dearborn St. in Scott City. St. Lawrence Parish in New Hamburg, Missouri, will hold its picnic from 5 to 11:30 p.m. July 17 and 3 to 11:30 p.m. July 18. A dinner, to be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, will include fried chicken, dumplings, beef, corn, green beans, slaw, dessert and drink for $9 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 to 12. A cornhole tournament will be at 6:30 Friday at a cost of $10 per person; a horseshoe tournament will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday. Activities will include an antique tractor display, a food stand, petting zoo, bingo and other games, a raffle and attendance prizes. The Little Mr. and Little Miss New Hamburg Contest, at 7 p.m. Friday, is open to boys and girls ages 3, 4 and 5, for parishioners and their relatives only.
The Heartland Talent Contest will be at 2 p.m. July 18 as part of the St. Lawrence Parish picnic in New Hamburg, Missouri. It is open for those ages 6 through 22, and there are senior and junior divisions. Entry deadline is July 16. The annual picnic of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Missouri, will be at 4 p.m. July 19 at the Altenburg Fairgrounds on Church Street. The Lutheran Home Hospice is seeking individuals to help support terminally ill patients and their families.
