The third annual Civil War Camp will be July 9 and 10 in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., with a living historical Civil War encampment set up in the Moses Austin Park at Main and Gabourni streets. There will be a re-enacting of the 150th anniversary of the removal of $58,313 from the Merchant's Bank by the Union Army at 1:30 p.m. July 9 at the corner of Main and Merchant streets. Following the re-enactment there will be a dedication of a Civil War plaque commemorating the historic event. St. Lawrence Parish Center in New Hamburg, Mo., is hosting a picnic July 15 and 16. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. There will be a washers tournament at 6 p.m. July 15 and a horseshoes tournament at 1 p.m. July 16. Other events include a petting zoo, turtle race, games, kids tractor pull and a raffle for cash and prizes. No coolers are allowed.
The Heartland Pops Chorus will hold the first rehearsal for its fall concert at 7 p.m. July 11 at Immaculate Conception School in Jackson. The concert, "Best of Broadway/Let's Go To The Hop," will be a mix of Broadway tune and '50s-style selections. New singers and all voice parts, especially sopranos, are welcome.
