Writers Group meets at Jackson library

The Beginner Writers Group will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. Participants do not need to have a completed manuscript. There will be writing exercises to help develop characters, voice and plots. For more information, call 243-8141.

Local track and field meet planned

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will hold the 21st annual Hershey Track and Field Local Meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Cape Girardeau Central High School. The even is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 14. Registration for the event will be from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Local winners will advance to the state meet June 24.

Search engine seminar offered

Elizabeth Shelton of Write Results Marketing and Alex Seer of Element 74 will host a lunchtime workshop to teach local businesses how to improve their websites' position in search engine results. The workshop will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. The cost is $25 and includes lunch. Attendance is limited to the first 25 registrants. Archery skills taught at Nature Center

Perfect your archery skills during Nature Center at Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. Participants will learn techniques to become better archers. All ages are welcome.

Spring garage sale held at Osage Centre

A spring garage sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Osage Centre. Participants can reserve a booth for $15. Admission will be free for anyone 12 years old or younger but $1 for everyone else. One booth per household. For more information, call 339-6342.

Homeschooling seminar to be held

A seminar for those considering homeschooling will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Lynwood Baptist Church. This event is organized by the Lynnwood Homeschoolers group.
