The Muscular Dystrophy Association will hold a trivia night and luau at Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge No. 639 on Friday. Teams can have up to 10 members at $15 per team member. There will be eight rounds of 10 questions each, a grand prize for winning team and a silent auction. Participants can bring their own snacks, and a cash bar will be available. Proceeds from the event will go toward amyotrophic lateral sclerosis research. Hillcrest Counseling will hold a support group for women cancer survivors from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The group, which will take place every Wednesday, will be led by Amy B. The Hershey's Track and Field local meet, hosted by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, will be held May 17 at the Central Junior High School track. Local children ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate. Runners will register the day of the event from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Track events begin at 5 p.m. Track events will include the 50-, 100-, 200-, and 400-meter dashes, 800- and 1,600-meter runs, the 4100 meter relay, standing long jump and softball throw. Participants may enter up to three events, with a maximum of two track events, plus the 4100 meter relay for all 9- to 12-year-olds. Each child may compete in only one local Hershey's Track and Field meet and may not wear track spikes or shoes designated for spikes during competition. Searching for 2013 pageant contestants
Sheree Lynch, executive state director for the Miss Missouri High, Miss Missouri Junior High and Miss Missouri Collegiate America Pageant, is seeking applicants for the titles of Miss Cape Girardeau High, Miss Cape Girardeau Junior High and Miss Cape Girardeau Collegiate. Once selected, the girls will advance on to represent their communities in the state pageant to be held July 14 at Garrison Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. Local titleholders will compete to win a prize package valued at over $5,000 including a college scholarship and more. To apply, the Miss Missouri Junior High School applicants must be in grades six to eight. Miss Missouri High applicants must be in grades nine to 12, Miss Missouri Collegiate applicants must a student in a Missouri college. LOUIS -- Jehovah's Witnesses throughout Southeast Missouri are inviting all in the area to attend the "Let God's Name Be Sanctified" circuit assembly to be held at the Witnesses' Assembly Hall, at 953 Laredo Ave. in St. Louis, for two consecutive weekends starting May 12 and 13.
