Starting Point is a medically supervised, weight-management program that emphasizes fitness and nutrition. Southeast offers support group for patients
The Bariatric Support Group at Southeast Hospital meets monthly. The next meeting will be held from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. The sessions cover a variety of topics, including medical management, meal planning and nutrition, behavior change and motivation, and exercise and fitness. Heartland Writers Guild to hold meeting
The May meeting of the Heartland Writers Guild will be held at 2 p.m. May 20 at the Steck House, 210 Washington St., which is next to the Presbyterian Church in Jackson. The program will include a presentation from a representative of Imagemaker, a printing and publishing company in Cape Girardeau. Anyone interested in writing is invited to attend.
The Cape Girardeau Roller Girls will hold their next intraleague event, Fantastic Five on Five, on Saturday at the Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. The Broadway Brawlers and Faultline Fighters will face off for an action-packed evening. Bring the whole family and experience roller derby in Southeast Missouri. Doors open at 6 p.m. Derby starts at 7. Tickets are $7 in advance and are available at P-Mac Music, Bootheel Harley-Davidson, Pitter's Mud House and online at www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are $9 at the door. Children 5 and younger are free. A portion of proceeds from the bout will benefit Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary. Everyone is invited to Pitter's on Broadway for the after party.
