Mission team benefits from Grill's proceeds

The Gordonville Grill in Gordonville will be hosting 10 percent Tuesday for the Saint Paul Lutheran Guatemalan mission team from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The mission team will be in Guatemala June 11 through 19 doing construction on a school damaged by a hurricane. They will also conduct vacation Bible school while there.

Science Afternoons planned at Playhouse

Join Science Afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays at The Discovery Playhouse. Participation is included in the cost of admission. Each afternoon includes science experiments that could lead to discovering water absorbing polymers, launching a rocket across and the room or exploring the power of magnets. All materials are provided.

Nelson Memorial hosts 41st annual fish fry

Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church will have its 41st annual fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at The Flame in downtown East Prairie. The menu includes catfish fillets, fries, hush puppies, slaw and drinks for an all-you-can-eat meal. Advance tickets are $8 and will be $9 at the door. Carry outs will be available. Nature Center has Migratory Bird Day

Migratory Bird Day will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. The day will include bird banding, games, crafts, bird walks and birding presentations. Free Again Rehabilitation Center will provide a live program on raptors at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. All ages are welcome, and no registration is required.

Birthright seeks donations at shower

Birthright will have a shower from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Osage Centre. Items needed for layettes include newborn diapers, baby wipes, Enfamil formula (Premium Infant, ProSobee, Enfacare, AR or Gentlease), baby wash and lotion, receiving blankets, towels and washcloths, 8-ounce bottles and baby clothing. Layettes are given to mothers before they deliver. Volunteers from the center will be available to answer questions. Refreshments will be provided and there will be door prizes, a quilt raffle and entertainment by children's groups. A program will be presented at 2:30 p.m. with a talk by a Birthright representative and a Birthright mom. Birthright is a not-for-profit, interdenominational center for women finding themselves in an unplanned pregnancy.
