Victory Outreach Ministry, 1000 Big Bend Road, has opened a second location in Morley, Mo., at 102 Kennett St. Victory is an outreach ministry that helps people who are hurting because of a broken home, drugs, child abuse, alcoholism or other issues. The Revs. Jerry Respondek and Henry Miller are in charge of services. Cape Girardeau services are Wednesdays at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Morley services are Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m.
Kids Fishing at the grand opening of the ADA-compliant fishing dock and marsh boardwalk will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. There will be fishing for people 15 and younger. Bait and equipment will be provided. There will be "fishy" crafts and casting range with prizes. No registration required.
The 2011 Spring Classic 5K, Kids and Dog Run is at 8 a.m. Saturday at Mid America Rehab. Cape Road Runners is hosting the 2011 Spring Classic 5K and proceeds will be donated to the Cape Girardeau Police K9 unit. There will also be a run for children and a dog run. The course begins at West Park Mall and finishes in front of Mid America Rehab. Mid America Rehab will provide a barbecue and refreshments for participants. Price is $20. The Salvation Army will be serving Meals with Friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Everyone is welcome and the meal is free. The menu for the week is turkey and noodle Monday, ham and potatoes Tuesday, chicken and potatoes Wednesday, Thursday the menu will be sloppy joes and potatoes and Friday the menu will be chili with crackers and hot dogs on a bun. The Notre Dame Regional High School Habitat for Humanity Group is sponsoring a chicken and dumpling dinner 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school cafeteria. Price is $7 and includes green beans, slaw, bread, dessert and a drink.
A plant and bake sale is being sponsored by the Altenburg Homemakers Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Quonset Hut at the East Perry Fairgrounds. All proceeds will be used for community projects. Door prizes and refreshments will be served. Remember to bring a lawn chair. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bidding starts at 6.
