Perkins Fire Department to hold Mother's Day meal

Perkins Volunteer Fire Department is serving a Mother's Day dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28 at the Perkins fireman hall. Fried chicken with all the trimmings will be served. Cost is $8 for adults, $6 for children older than 6 and free for children younger than 5. One mother will win a free gift.

Benefit concert set for Catholic Food Pantry

St. Mary Cathedral is holding a benefit concert for the Catholic Food Pantry at 2 p.m. May 5 in the Old St. Vincent Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. Saint Francis hosting cessation from smoking class

Saint Francis Medical Center is extending the freedom from smoking class from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through May 30 at the Health and Wellness Center conference room 1. The cost to register is $90 and the course is presented by the American Lung Association. Financial assistance for nicotine replacement is available. For questions or to register, call 331-3006.

MS Walk today at Capaha Park

The Multiple Sclerosis Super City walk will be held today at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau. The event starts at noon with the walk beginning at 1 p.m. There are one- and three-mile walks scheduled. Kow Pasture Klassic set for Saturday

The annual Kow Pasture Klassic golf tournament will be held from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Schindler's Tavern in New Hamburg, Mo. The classic will feature a nine-hole golf course, a tribute to the flags at noon and more. Join Hands Day to be held May 4

Volunteers are needed for Join Hands Day, being held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4 at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Six hundred bags of nonperishable items will be packed to give 150 food bags away each Monday in July to the Salvation Army. Join Hands Day is sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America.
