St. Paul Lutheran to hold breakfast

The St. Paul Lutheran Church mission team will hold a donation breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today in the fellowship hall, 223 W. Adams St. in Jackson. Eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice will be served. Funds raised will go toward the mission team's upcoming trip to Guatemala.

Men's Club dinner planned

The Hanover Lutheran Men's Club will hold a fried chicken and kettle beef dinner, beginning at 3:30 p.m. today at the church, 2949 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau. The dinner also will include mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, bread, dessert and a drink. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 11 and free for children 5 and younger.

Salvation Army Empty Bowls event set

The 11th annual Empty Bowls event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. today at The Salvation Army Worship and Community Center, 701 Good Hope St. in Cape Girardeau. Tickets are $12, and participants will receive soup, rolls, brownies and cake, as well as a handmade pottery bowl. The proceeds benefit The Salvation Army. Red Cross to hold blood drive in Jackson

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at The Bank of Missouri's Jackson location, 2492 E. Main St. Sandwiches and chips will be provided for all donors. For more information, call (573) 243-9300.

Science fair planned for Show Me Center

Noon Optimist to hold annual chili day

The Noon Optimist Annual Chili Day will be held from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the A.C. Brase Arena Building, 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau. The event, which will benefit youth activities in the area, will include chili, hot dogs, dessert, drinks and live music. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Fish fry set for Scott City K of C

The Knights of Columbus Council 6420 will hold its weekly Lenten fish fry Friday at the hall, 28745 Highway 61 in Scott City. The dinners will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday through April 7. The menu will include all-you-can-eat catfish, fried chicken, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies, potato wedges and drinks. The cost is $11 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 11 and free for children 6 and younger.

Chaffee Elks Lodge to hold fish fry

The Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 will hold a Lenten fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the lodge, 121 E. Yoakum Ave. in Chaffee, Missouri. The all-you-can-eat buffet, which will be held every Friday through April 14, will include chicken, sides and iced tea. The cost will be $11 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.

Cousin Carl Farm Show scheduled

The fifth annual Cousin Carl Farm Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Arena Park, 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau. The event will include a mule jump, agriculture expo, farm toy show, tractor parade, various food options, livestock exhibits and an antique tractor pull and display. The all-you-can-eat buffet also includes dressing, homemade pie and bread. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children and free for children 5 and younger.

Annual Lions Club Pancake Day to be held

The 79th annual Lions Club Pancake Day, the longest continuous running pancake event in the United States, will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the A.C. Brase Arena Building, 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau. Tickets cost $5 and include pancakes, milk and coffee. Juice, water and sausages will cost extra. All proceeds from this event go to charity.
