The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center, 112 E. Washington St. in Jackson
Lemira Stubbs Parks of Caruthersville, Mo., will present a program on the Boone's Lick road markers. Parks is the Missouri Trails chairman for Missouri Daughters of the American Revolution.
With 2013 as the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the Boone's Lick Road markers, Parks worked with the state regent to plan the anniversary celebration at the Drovers' Inn site in Williamsburg, Mo., and helped in a project to honor Daniel Boone that included repairing the vandalized monument at the original burial site of Daniel and Rebecca Boone in Marthasville, Mo, awarding a $1,000 Daniel Boone Scholarship to a Missouri high school senior and placing five markers along the trails in Missouri blazed by Daniel Boone and/or the Boone family.
The archive center will be open at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for members to use the library for research.
The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society meets bimonthly on the fourth Tuesday. Nonmembers are welcome at all meetings. Membership is $10 per year. More information is available by calling Bill Eddleman at 335-1507.
