Christ Lutheran Church at 248 Albert St. in Gordonville will hold a barbecue plate dinner with smoked chicken, pulled pork, German potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, drinks and dessert from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 15. Adults eat for $10, children 5 to 12 for $5, under 5 eat free, with available carry-outs.

Shelter Insurance Foundation and Stephanie Ogle Shelter Insurance will sponsor a local high school scholarship in Jackson, according to a recent news release. This spring, a $2,000 award will go to a Jackson High School graduate. Shelter Agent Stephanie Ogle sponsors and partially funds this scholarship.
A committee of local high school officials and community leaders will select the local recipient, according to the release.
The recipient may apply the scholarship funds toward tuition, fees, or campus housing for any course of study beginning the fall after the recipient's high school graduation and leading to an academic degree at any accredited college or university. The Foundation makes payment directly to the school the recipient selects.
Applications should be completed and returned to the school official serving on the selection committee by March 31.
