Free craft show at Masonic Lodge

Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Women will host a craft show from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Temple, 2307 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Regional photography show in Sikeston

The Sikeston Cultural Development Corporation, also known as The Sikeston Depot Museum, invites photographers 18 years or older to participate in a regional judged photography show. Each individual may enter up to three photos for a fee of $10 per piece or three entries for $25. Cash awards will be presented. Categories will be portrait/genre, floral, landscape, abstract and animal/wildlife. Pieces may be delivered to the museum Jan. 6 and 7. An awards reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 9, and the show, sponsored in part by the Missouri Arts Council, will run through Feb. 27. More information is available by calling 573-481-9967.

Mobile dental unit at Elks Lodge

The Elks mobile dental unit will be at Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge No. 639, 639 Elks Lane, from Nov. 24 through Dec. 18. The program brings to eligible developmentally disabled children and adults dental services including X-rays, fillings, extractions, cleaning and other treatments at no cost. Homemade beer, wine competition in Oran

The Oran Jaycees are hosting a homemade beer and wine competition from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Oran Jaycee Hall, 200 Haw St. Registration deadline is Dec. 8; there is no entry fee for winemakers and brewers, who must be present to pour samples the day of the event. Cost to the public is $10. One winner will be named in several categories of wine and beer; there also will be a people's choice winner and a grand champion for both beer and wine. Military holiday mail program set

With the help of the Red Cross, Americans can send cards with messages, season's greetings and holiday wishes to military members and veterans who cannot be with their families this season. The Holiday Mail for Heroes program runs until Dec. 5. The Cape Girardeau chapter of the Red Cross, 2430 Myra Drive, is participating by distributing individual's cards to military instillations, medical facilities and veteran organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Euchre tourney scheduled Nov. 26

The Oran Jaycees will host a euchre tournament at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Oran Jaycee Hall, 200 Haw St., with proceeds going toward the Thanksgiving baskets provided to the needy in the Oran area. Entry fee is $10 plus canned goods per person, and there will be a blind draw for partners, cash prizes, cash bar and a 50-50 raffle. Doors open and 6 p.m.; food will be available. Genealogical Society meets Nov. 25

The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center, 112 E. Washington St. in Jackson. The program, "Cemetery Research and the Cape Girardeau County Cemetery Inventory," will be presented by our fine Cape Girardeau County Archive Center staff. They will have details on how to conduct cemetery research, as well as some specifics for Cape Girardeau County. The archive center will open at 6:30 p.m. for members to use the library for research.
