Immaculate Conception to hold chicken dinner

A fried chicken dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Jackson. Fried chicken and all the trimmings will be offered. Koine' to perform at the Jackson bandshell

Ferguson to present Civil War history program

Author Gillum Ferguson of Naperville, Ill., will present a program on Williamson County's 128th Illinois Infantry at 7 p.m. Monday at General John A. Logan Museum in Murphysboro, Ill. Ferguson has written numerous published articles about the history of Southern Illinois, including the only full account of the 128th Illinois Infantry, a Williamson County regiment in the Civil War. During the war, "Egypt" contributed some of the Union's most heroic regiments in the fight to save the Union; the 128th, however, was not one of them. For more information, contact P. Healthy Weigh orientation dates scheduled

The Healthy Weigh orientation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday and Oct. 14, 17, 21, 28 and 31 at Saint Francis Medical Center's Health and Wellness Center. The orientation is free and overviews the newest weight loss program offered at Saint Francis. This program has a variety of diet options for anyone wanting to lose 10 to 100 or more pounds. Sibling class to be held at Southeast Hospital

The sibling class will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday and Oct. 21 in the Harrison Room at Southeast Hospital. The class is designed to help children prepare, in a positive way, for the addition of a new family member. The class is geared toward children ages 3 to 9. Class size is limited.
