St. John's Church to host ham and bean dinner

An all-you-can-eat ham and bean supper will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at St. John's United Church of Christ, 781 State Highway FF in Jackson. The menu also will include cornbread, slaw, dessert and drink. The cost for adults is $6, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.

Eisleben Lutheran to host chili and soup dinner

Eisleben Lutheran Church will hold its annual chili and chicken noodle dinner from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. Monday at the church, 432 Lutheran Lane in Scott City. The menu also includes a piece of homemade pie or cake and a drink. The cost for adults is $8.50, $4 for children ages 6 to 10 and free for children 5 and younger.

Old Town Cape to hold annual dinner

Old Town Cape will hold its annual dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Isle Casino Event Center, 777 Main St. in Cape Girardeau.

A social mixer will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner and program scheduled for 7 p.m. Reservations are $30 per seat or $240 for a table of eight.

Red wine and dark chocolate pairing set

In honor of National Heart Month, SoutheastHEALTH will host a red wine and dark chocolate pairing from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Port Cape Girardeau, 19 N. Water St. Tickets are $40 per person and available in advance at sehealth.org/winechocolate. Proceeds will benefit the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation HeartStrong Fund, which provides health-assistance items and training for low-income patients suffering from congestive heart failure.

Fried catfish and chicken dinner to be held

New McKendree United Methodist Church will hold a fried catfish and chicken breast tenders dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church, Highway 25 (across from South Elementary) in Jackson. The meal also will include slaw, baked beans, spiral potatoes, dessert and drink. The cost for adults is $10, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger.

Mardi Gras celebration at Magnolia Manor

Magnolia Manor in Cairo, Illinois, will host a Mardi Gras celebration from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2700 Washington Ave. in Cairo. The event will include authentic cuisine, desserts, champagne and live music. The cost is $25 per person. To make reservations, call (618) 734-0201. Reservations are not required but appreciated.

SEABEE Ball planned for VFW Post 3838

Cape Girardeau VFW Post 3838 will host a formal SEABEE Ball on March 4, with a social hour beginning at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Special recognition will be given to the youngest SEABEE and the oldest SEABEE as well as keepsakes, military SEABEES displays and music provided during the evening. All are encouraged to wear their dress blues or suit.

All active and former U.S. Navy SEABEES in Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and St. Louis are invited to the event, which celebrates the 75th anniversary of the unit.

The U.S. Navy SEABEES were a hybrid unit of the Navy, formed March 5, 1942 during World War II and have continued special operations to present day.

Salvation Army menu for this week

Meals with Friends will be served from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 to 24 at the Salvation Army Worship and Community Center, 701 Good Hope St. in Cape Girardeau. Menus are as follows:

Monday: Closed for Presidents Day.

Tuesday: Baked chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, fruit, dessert

Wednesday: Spanish rice with round beef, garlic bread, salad, fruit, dessert

Thursday: Hot ham and cheese sandwich, vegetable soup, crackers, fruit, dessert

Friday: Leftovers
